Good Faith Estimate
Under the No Surprises Act, individuals who do not have health insurance or who choose not to use their health insurance to pay for services have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of the expected cost of care.
If you are uninsured or planning to pay for therapy without using insurance, a written Good Faith Estimate will be provided before receiving psychotherapy services.
The Good Faith Estimate will explain the expected charges associated with your care based on the information available at the time the estimate is prepared. Because the frequency and duration of psychotherapy can vary depending on your individual needs and goals, actual services may differ from the initial estimate.
If you receive a bill from a provider that is at least $400 more than the amount listed on that provider's Good Faith Estimate, you may be eligible to use the federal patient-provider dispute resolution process.
